I met Joanna just a couple weeks ago. She had the cutest little baby bump when we met over coffee. She and her husband had just recently moved to Bozeman and were very excited and anxious for baby Jack to arrive. Jack blessed this world 3 weeks early.
I love this time of year - it's holiday card time! I met Ferrel's when they were referred to me from another fabulous family I have photographed. We decided to do the shoot in the early evening at Lindley Park in Bozeman.
Barrett & Rachael, what a gorgeous couple! I have known these two for a few years now. Barrett and I met years ago working at a raft company in Big Sky, MT. I have known Barrett with Rachael & I have known Barrett without Rachael. It is very clear he is much happier when she is around. His face lights just up when he sees her - it’s so fun to see!
Spring has sprung, the babies are here. At least that is how I have felt the last couple of weeks:) I love photographing newborns! They are so sweet, so little, and so innocent. There is something very special about the first few days in life, and I feel so lucky to be able to document these moments.
Recently my photos of a couple Yellowstone Club homes were featured in Robb Report. (see article here) These two homes took on the rustic Montana mountain home feel - the type of home I could sit by they large stone fireplace with a good book and a glass of wine for hours. These two homes sit on high on Andesite Mountain overlooking the incredible views of Pioneer Mountain, Lone Peak, Cedar Mountain, and the Spanish Peaks.
The great room - this is the room made for welcoming & entertaining guests, for relaxing, or simple, easy family time. This is my favorite room in the house to photograph. As an architectural photographer in southwest Montana. I have had the privilege to photograph some amazing homes and with amazing homes come amazing great rooms. This room is the essence of what the rest of the home is going to bring. From dark & cozy with large stone fireplaces to open & airy, with floor-to-ceiling windows, this is my favorite room in the house to photograph.
One of the most common questions I get asked as a family portrait photographer is “when is the best time of year to do our family portraits?” Well, certainly the busiest season for family portraits is the fall, the leaves are changing and everyone is gearing up to get those dreaded holiday cards out. To avoid having to book your photographer months in advance - typically what happens in the fall, I’ll show you why family portraits are great every season - yes even winter:)
Recently Business Insider put out the article - 18 Mountains that Celebrities and Business Moguls Love to Ski. I noticed one of my photos was featured for Yellowstone Club. Reid Smith Architects did an amazing job with this home - the huge windows and the walk out living space really add to this modern mountain retreat.
When I was asked on to Tanda’s farm to photograph her in her element I was estatic! Not only is Tanda a good friend, but her life on her farm is something worth photographing! A little background on Tanda - she is a Naturopathic Doctor. She has spent the last few years educating people - myself included - on how to live a happier, healthier life through food and lifestyle. She is an AMAZING cook - I'm convinced that is why her last name is Cook:)
I thought since we are right in the middle of holiday card photo season this blog post would be appropriate. Why should you hire a professional to shoot your family photos? There are many reasons to hire a professional, but by far the best answer is making it EASY for you! No one - mainly the kiddos - want to do the family photo taken by Grandma in front of the fire place during a family gathering. I can remember doing that as a kid and hating it! And guess what - you can tell - I mean just look at me in this photo - yep, I am the one in the dress, eyes closed, fake smile... I mean I can't understand why my parents didn't blow this photo up and put it on the wall, hahaha!
A few weeks back I shot an amazing home up at the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana. Recently, the LA Times has featured the home in their Real Estate section - see article here. This mountain-top home is amazing in so many different ways - the contemporary feel, the gorgeous views, the open floor plan.
Corrigan & Caroline's wedding was such an amazing day - from start to finish! I have known these two for several years and when they approached me to photograph their wedding I was so, so, so excited! We all met years ago while we were all whitewater raft guides - they were one of few raft guide romances that has lasted, ha! :)
Every year Pete and I pack our bags and head up to Garnet Lookout Tower. It's usually a tough hike being that you have to carry up your water, food and other supplies. But this year we planned the weekend before Pete broke his leg and before I found out I was pregnant. Ha! Talk about a great hiking duo:) That was not going to stop us from enjoying the weekend. We took our time and are also lucky to have two pups that love to hike with their doggy packs:)
